Is it a meme? Is it soul-searching philosophy? Is it a cunning ploy to find out if britishbulldog is reading this? Who knows.
My question to you is: what would you do if a war broke out? Along the lines on WWII, in that:
a) the security and future of your country is at stake, and b) the cause is one you believe to be just.
Assume also that neither side has nuclear weapons or is willing to use them.
I would feel I ought to serve - much as I hate violence and conflict, sometimes it has to be done. I'd join the Royal Navy, for a few reasons. I doubt I have the eyesight or reaction times necessary to be a pilot. I'm not cut out for the Army either - and who wants to be a grunt on the ground anyway? But I've always liked ships. Sitting inside a Type 23 Frigate strikes me as the way a war ought to be fought. Inside a big steel ship covered in guns. Yep. And with a university degree, I could go in for officer training, in order that my vast intellectual gifts are fully untilised.
So what would you do? |
